MEDICAL

Access to healthcare is vital for the communities we serve, and Buy a Brick Foundation has been working to meet these needs through our medical initiatives. Some of these initiatives include:

  • Leona Clinic: The Leona Clinic was created in response to a life-threatening event in 2014 when Leonah Sibanda, a 15-year-old orphan, was attacked by a water buffalo. With no clinic nearby, it took nearly three hours for an ambulance to arrive. The closest clinic was 20 miles away, leading us to realize the urgent need for a local medical facility. Partnering with local community leaders and government officials, the Leona Clinic was constructed in 2014 and today remains an operational clinic providing care for the community, with a registered nurse visiting bi-weekly.

  • Eyeglass and Sunglass Distribution: Eyecare is often a neglected health need in remote communities, where access to basic vision correction is scarce. Our Eyeglass and Sunglass Distribution program addresses this gap by providing eyeglasses to those who suffer from vision impairments and sunglasses to protect against harsh UV radiation. By improving vision, we’re enabling children to succeed in school and adults to work more effectively, fostering greater independence and quality of life.

  • Fighting Malaria: The Zimbabwe Agriculture Malaria Treatment and Education Farms (ZAMTEF) is an initiative launched by Buy a Brick Foundation aimed at combating malaria, a leading cause of illness in Zimbabwe. Inspired by the success of one woman, Lindiwe Moyo, who nurtured and distributed the healing Artemisia Annua plant, ZAMTEF farms have been established in villages and schools throughout the region. We are working to expand ZAMTEF across Zimbabwe, with each farm helping to save lives through education and treatment.

We need YOUR help!

Every project is designed brick by brick, with the partnership of the Zimbabwean people every step of the way.

In March 2024, we started the construction of our second clinic, Batoka Clinic, at the request of local and national government officials. When we presented the construction plan to the village chief, he was excited to get started right away.

Over the months, we have made tremendous progress, but we hope to complete this project in one year to serve the medical needs of 4000 people in the rural community.
